I bought this from a pawn shop

You bought a non-functional device. (That was probably why it was brought there in the first place. The pawn shop was probably duped by the original owner.) You should return it, if you can.

I believe this device needs servicing. Do ask Apple if that comes at additional costs.

Hi I'm having this same issue and I tried that and it didn't work :/ I read something online that if I bring it into apple and tell them about it they'll replace it for free, is that still true..?

Unless they grant an exception, only if it's due to a manufacturing defect; if it's a software issue, they may resolve it without replacing the unit.
