In Vitals my Apple Watch 10 displays wrist temperature anomalies to two decimal places (eg +0.14°), yet all water temperature recordings are rounded to the nearest degree (eg 16°). Why? Can we please have at least one decimal place for water temperature? 🙏
Your body temperature will also change in the water, and the depth will also play a part in the temperature readings.
So the shown water temperature is an average of all the readings.
If you use the Feedback link, you can tell Apple directly about your wishes for future watchOS updates.
This is the only way to reach them, as Apple does not follow theses user to user communities.
Maybe because the wrist will either warm or cool the water around it so the reading is not so exact to begin with.
Thanks. I get that the temp reading is an average, but so is body temperature. It seems to be just a decision they’ve made about what level of detail to display. Thanks for pointing me to the feature request link, I’ll put in a request.
Thanks. I think you’re right on both counts, but it still doesn’t explain why there is this difference in display accuracy. I don’t imagine most women tracking period/ovulation will need to know temperature variation to two decimal places, but many open water swimmers and divers would be keenly interested in having water temperature displayed with a little more precision.
And maybe the wrist temperature is more geared to period cycle evaluation.

Haha but this is not exactly convenient to carry along when you are swimming. And why carry this if you have a tool on your wrist that is supposed to be able to do the same thing?
