IMac OS Catalina V 10.15.7 & Safari 15.6.1. Best Upgrade for Browser?

Hello everyone.

I have an iMac late 2013 with 2.9 GHz Quad-X Core Intel Core i5 processor. 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Memory.

Now that Apple have stopped upgrading my Safari Version 15.6.1, I'm increasingly having problems on using some websites.

I get around this by using Firefox 141.0 (64-bit).

I've looked at Chrome and Microsoft Edge as alternatives. Both these seem to have some adverse comments about them though.

I can't afford to upgrade my iMac.

Can anyone suggest a good alternative to my Safari browser? Is there an Apple recommended alternative?

Thanks

Firefox 141.0 is the way to go. It's the current release and is fully supported on Catalina. Given Firefox history, I would expect further releases on Catalina for at least another year or two, perhaps longer.

After installing Firefox, I suggest adding two Firefox plugins for a bit of extra web privacy: Privacy Badger and uBlock Origin.
