Unable to receive emails or download apps on new iPad

The ipad will allow me send emails but I am not able to receive them or download apps.

If you can send emails but not receive them or download apps on your new iPad, try the following steps:


  1. Check Internet Connection – Make sure you're connected to a stable Wi-Fi or cellular network.
  2. Restart Your iPad – A simple restart can fix temporary glitches.
  3. Check Mail Settings – Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts and ensure your email account is properly set up.
  4. Check Storage – If your iPad is full, it may not download apps or sync emails. Go to Settings > General > iPad Storage to check.
  5. Sign in to Apple ID – Make sure you’re signed in under Settings > Apple ID, and that your account has no issues.
  6. Update iPadOS – Go to Settings > General > Software Update and install the latest version.


If the problem continues, try removing and re-adding your email account or contact Apple Support for further help.

Start with initial fault finding:


What happens when you try to receive or send email? Do you see any errors - and if so, what do you see?


If email is failing to send or receive, you are likely to see indicative errors at the bottom of the mail sidebar - the wording of the error usually providing sufficient information to determine the nature of the problem.


Deleting and re-adding your email account is sometimes the easiest way to resolve a problem with a specific Mail account. After deleting the account, perform a forced restart before re-adding the email account to your iPad.


  • Delete account:

Settings > Mail > Accounts > [Your Mail Account] > Delete Account


  • Force restart the iPad:

  • Add Mail Account:

Settings > Mail > Add Account
