Can Apple fix my Mac mini M4 if I don't have access to the Serial Number?

I factory reset my base m4 Mac mini but it never booted back up. No signal on boot and light is solid white, white light turns off and on 3-4 times then blinks orange from then on. I have no spare Mac for dfu mode. I don’t have the original box, serial sticker, and never wrote down the serial number. But it should still be in warranty. I bought it in November from Amazon when it came out. Am I out of luck?

Yes, Apple can still help even if you don’t have the serial number. Since you bought it from Amazon, try these steps:

  1. Check Amazon order details – It may include the serial number or proof of purchase.
  2. Visit Apple Support – Go to a nearby Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider. Bring your purchase receipt (Amazon invoice).
  3. Apple can identify the Mac using internal tools, hardware ID, or your Apple ID (if it was linked).

📌 If under warranty, they’ll usually help — especially if the issue is hardware-related.

I was impatient and contacted apple chat. They said they can since it’s still under warranty and tied to my account but the closest store is 6 hours round trip. I’m better off paying $100 to a local repair shop to install Mac OS. I’d spend more on gas money and time just to get there at the Apple Store.

I wish there was still an Apple Store in the Rio Grande Valley, I ain’t going all the way to San Antonio to install an OS. I regret buying a Mac. If this were a pc I’d be able to install an os easily.

how do I mark this solved? Btw, thanks for mentioning the sticker at the bottom with the serial number. That helped me.

Unfortunately, the North Star Apple Store is the closest in San Antonio. There aren’t any authorized repair shops near me in deep south Texas. I’m going to have to void the warranty to fix it with an unauthorized repair shop. If it’s hardware issue I’m going to have to throw it away. The warranty is useless anyway since it’s too far away to get it fixed officially.

Apple needs to have at the very least an authorized repair shop in the Rio Grande Valley Texas. I’m not going to travel 440 miles round trip just to install an os.

If they are an Authorised Apple Service Provider, they should be able to fix your issue according to the One Year Warranty:

Legal - Mac Warranty Us - Apple

Giving them a call about it might give you a faster answer than going through the fine print.

The official Apple Support might have pointed you to an Apple Store, because in some cases, only they can fix issues between soft- and hardware.
