No Sound on Late 2013 iMac (macOS Catalina 10.15.7) – Input & Output Devices Missing
Hi, I have a Late 2013 27” iMac running macOS Catalina 10.15.7. Recently, my Mac completely lost sound — both the internal speakers and input/output devices are no longer showing up in System Preferences > Sound. It just says “No output devices found” and “No input devices found.”
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
- Reset NVRAM/PRAM
- Reset SMC
- Booted in Safe Mode
- Reinstalled macOS Catalina (without erasing data)
- Checked Audio MIDI Setup and System Report – audio devices show as missing
- Confirmed issue persists across multiple user accounts
The weird thing is, the speakers still seem to physically work — when booting into Windows via Boot Camp, sound works fine (until a recent audio glitch, but that may be unrelated).
This all started after I was using a voice changer on Windows, which may have caused audio driver issues. But I’m not sure why macOS would also be affected.
Is there any possible way to fix or reinstall the audio drivers on macOS? Or is this likely a hardware-level issue?
Thanks in advance for any help.
