Finally got the Thunderbolt Display to work with the MacStudio M2
Took the Thunderbolt Display in to the Apple Store with the MacPro and the MacStudio.
Fortunately I was an hour early for my appointment, because the Pro had a flat battery and I had to wait for it to charge. We demonstrated that the Thunderbolt Display worked with the Pro but not the Studio.
The Store tried a spare Thunderbolt cable with the Converter instead of the built in cable. Initially the screen stayed dark - so there was one additional trick. He plugged in a keyboard and pressed a button. That woke the display.
So I am in business.
The only problem is that while Apple sells Thunderbolt 4 to Thunderbolt 2 converters, they no longer sell Thunderbolt 2 cables ! Seems they stopped producing the cables back in 2016.
So were is the best location to get compatible Thunderbolt 2 cables these days?
