Music - Live updating of Smart Playlists stopped working since around the 15th of July 2025

When I, for instance, create a smart list with the 3 least recently played tracks, it doesn't update the tracks in that list after I played them. It does change the data of the song so it is recorded that it has been played. It's just the playlist that doesn't update. I have to open edit the rules and then close it again for the changes to take effect.

Since I rely on this feature very heavily, I get very annoyed having to constantly edit all of my Smart Playlists.

I presume it was probably an update that caused this bug. I never had this problem before. I hope other people can verify the same problem and hope that it can be fixed.

Other things to try:

Hold down option as you launch Music then explicitly choose the .musiclibrary file that you want it to open. In some cases it appears Music can become connected to a cached version of the library that may then not update correctly.
Hold down both option+cmd as you launch Music to open it in its safe mode. This may perform some internal housekeeping, which in turn might help.
Turn Live Updating off for that playlist, apply and close, then edit the rules and turn Live Updating on again.
