Excessive "System Data" storage on MacBook Air (M1) with 250 GB

My MacBook Air (m1) says that system data is taking up over 125 GBs of my 250 GB mac, is there anyway to fix this or even add more storage to my mac. The System Data storage amount changes a-lot seemingly due to no reason

System Data (formerly called "Other") is primarily your own data stored by applications in the ~/Library folder. A prime example is email attachments.

Regarding storage, you cannot add internal storage to a Mac laptop, but you can transfer data that you don't access frequently to an external drive. A 1 TB SSD can be purchased for under $100, they are very fast.
