Sonoma 14.7.4 microphone stops working after a while

Hello,

As mentioned in the title, my built-in microphone intermittently stops working on my MacBook Air (M2). I experienced the same issue on my previous MacBook Air (M1), and it has persisted across multiple macOS versions.

The only workaround is restarting the system, after which the microphone functions normally again. This recurring problem is disruptive, and I hope it can be addressed in a future update.

Please investigate and resolve this bug.

Thank you.

The fact that you experience the same problem across multiple macs is very relevant.

It suggests that some software you have installed is causing the problem.

This is why when migrating to a new mac is best to bring only the user accounts and reinstall any applications or extensions afresh.

To try and find probable culprits: Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here. Use the "additional text" button and paste the report into the text box.

I think @ Luis Sequeira1 has offered a good way to " investigate " this issue

Though, updates may or may not fix issues that may have been migrated from another computer
