CarPlay won't read messsges on a Honda CR-V 2026

Using iPhone 15 pro with iOS 18.5 in my new 2026 Honda CR-V

(Wireless) CarPlay will begin to read a message and then fade out after a few words. Anyone having that problem?

My other iPhone (7 IOS 15.7) works fine wirelessly in the same car.

Based on a suggestion from someone in this thread, i bought a Wireless Car Play adapter from Amazon

plugged it in and connected it to the CRV. only had 1 glitch on a phone call, but messaging, music, Siri, Waze all seem to work flawlessly. For a solution under $40, I can now wait for either Honda or Apple (or both) to get their collective dookie together and actually test their software before releasing it on unsuspecting buyers. Long gone are the days when professional programmers actually tested their code before release. (yeah, i'm old school like that)

Also having this issue. Bought a 2026 CRV Sport-L today. On the drive home, I attempted multiple times to send & hear dictated texts via Apple CarPlay. Every time, Siri said about two words, stopped mid-sentence, and the screen froze for a couple seconds before returning to the text menu. Planning to take it to the dealership this week to get it looked at.

Some additional info.... My wife and I have identical iPhone 16 plus (except for color)... both are on IOS 18.6.2... her phone works fine in her 2025 CR-V Sport L, mine does not work in my 2026 CR-V TrailSport I have not yet bothered to cross check the 2 phones, but my gut is telling me this is a Honda problem. Can anyone else chime in with a 2026 CR-V with an iPhone that works with any version of IOS 18 ?? Thanks

I forgot... we both have CR-V Hybrids

I experienced the same issues, however when you’re finally connected to CarPlay, you can use the hands free button on the left side of your steering wheel and when you press it you can then say, text or call [insert name] and it works fine. You can then also ask read text message and this seemed to be a solution. It’s not the same as the 2024 version, but it does seem to work. There are many different settings to work through so check sound and Siri settings. Hope this helps.

My iPhone 14 won’t read texts to me when hooked to my 2026 Honda CRV Sport-L Hybrid. It tries to, but It’s all garbled and then cuts out.

All other CarPlay functions seem to work: Phone, Waze, Google maps, Music, etc.

knowing that CarPlay works well with all other apps, makes me feel that it’s an Apple issue, not Honda.

APPLE . . . ARE YOU LISTENING ?

I am having same issue with apple car play in my Honda CRV 2026 trail sport hybrid.

Not sure if it is Apple or Honda but the sale representative at Stouffville Honda. Ontario, Canada said two days after my purchase that he had similar complaint from other customers. But at the time of purchase he did not mentioned the issue BECAUSE he is most experienced sales representative in that dealership.

Prior to leaving dealership on the car pick up day, I mentioned the same issue to him but he brushed me off saying I have to update my apple IOS to latest version.

i went home did full iOS update but did not fix the issue. I called back to the dealer and he said he will call back to book an appointment after speaking to Service tech. But no call back.

i feel I got cheated. I wish I wouldn’t have drove off from the dealership that day.

Wireless CarPlay is important function for me as I travel a lot for work.

this does not show good about Apple neither Honda. Ultimately consumers are suffering
