Unable to fix Photos app crashing issues on iPhone 16 Pro

Hello,

I am experiencing a recurring issue with my Photos app. Upon opening a photo, the image appears blurred. Subsequently, exiting the photo causes the app to freeze and become unresponsive. I am required to wait approximately five seconds before the app resumes normal functionality.

I have attempted restarting my device and closing the app, but these measures have not resolved the problem.

Are there any solutions to this problem?

You may have items in your Photos Library that are damaged or in an unsupported format. You may want to check the items you have saved from unsafe sources, like images downloaded from the internet or shared with you.

Do you remember when this freezing started? Then try to remove all items from unsafe sources that you saved before the problem first occurred. You could save these items to Files, then delete them from your library.

I tried deleting everything from the date the issue started, but it didn’t help. The current symptom is that when I open the Photos app and view several photos in and out repeatedly, the app freezes and resets itself. However, if I wait about 10 seconds, everything returns to normal. It seems like the app is slowly loading the photos in the background, and once the loading is complete, it starts functioning normally again.
