Apple Music app issues with self-titled albums and queue management

I don’t stream from Apple Music. These issues pertain to playing music via MP3 from CDs or iTunes purchases.

If you ask your phone to play an artist, self-titled albums are a problem.

”Play Sting.”

It plays my entire Sting library.

”Play Portishead.”

It plays only the album titled “Portishead.”

Then there’s the queue, yet another instance of Apple changing something that worked perfectly fine. If I play an album, it will tell me there are no songs in the queue when it gets to the last song. But as soon as that song ends, the entire album is back in the queue.

This is a big problem while driving, especially in cars that aren’t compatible with CarPlay (such as Tesla) leaving you reliant on voice commands unless you’re able to stop and scroll to the music of your choice. Even then, I’ll pick the first song on an album and often it will only play that one song…then it goes back to the queue of the previous album, which I never wanted to create in the first place.

Why can’t we have the option to choose between What’s Next and the queue?
