Alarm bugs still present - no sound or disabling without interference

There are two iPhone alarm bugs STILL present a year after I first noticed them.

Bug 1: Alarm goes off, but without sound. You'll see the notification screen that an alarm is actively going off, but there is no sound. In some cases, the alarm will sound for a couple seconds, and then go silent with zero intervention.

Yes, I've disabled the Attention Aware Features long ago, and iOS has been updated more than once since this problem started and it STILL comes back. It is completely unpredictable and intermittent, which means the iPhone alarms can't be relied on at all.

Bug 2: Alarm goes off properly with sound and then turns itself off off completely (as though you hit the "stop" button) if you look at the screen or pick up the phone without touching the screen.

Just like the above bug, disabling attention aware and iOS updates have not fixed this. It is also completely unpredictable and intermittent.

Both of these are indicative of a serious software glitch where I'm betting there is something processing in the background that's completely unrelated to these alarms, but if it's processing at the same time, completely messes up their functionality. It's not the Attention Aware, it has to be something else. Apple, fix it already!

I thankfully have not also encountered the widely reported bug with the alarms going off at the wrong time entirely, but good grief, none of this should be happening. Your alarms are beyond simple with limited to no user customization options - they should not be this buggy!

Edit: This support form process is also buggy. It asked me to select my device, but gave me 3 options with the same nickname (and no ability to view the device details). So I selected one, and now it's attached my device as my iPad, when the device having the issue is my iPhone 15 ProMax currently on iOS 18.5. I went to edit my post, and of course I cannot edit the device now. Seriously, Apple, get it together.

How to set an alarm · Open the Clock app, then tap the Alarms tab. · Tap the Add button No alt supplied for Image . Set an alarm on iPhone in the Clock app.

If the alarm volume is too low or quiet

Do Not Disturb, the Ring/Silent switch and Silent mode don't affect the alarm sound. If you use the Ring/Silent switch or Action button to turn on Silent mode or turn on Do Not Disturb, the alarm still sounds.

If your alarm doesn't sound or is too quiet, or if your iPhone only vibrates, check the following:

  • Set the volume on your iPhone. If your alarm volume is too low or too loud, press the volume up or volume down button to adjust it. You can also go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and drag the slider under Ringtone and Alerts.
  • If your alarm only vibrates, make sure your alarm sound isn't set to None. Open the Clock app, tap the Alarms tab, then tap Edit. Tap the alarm, then tap Sound and choose a Sound.
  • If you connect headphones to your iPhone, the alarm will play at a set volume through the built-in speakers on your iPhone as well as wired and wireless headphones.
  • When you use StandBy, haptics for your alarms are disabled. To make sure that your alarm sound isn't set to None: open the Clock app, tap the Alarms tab, then tap Edit. Tap the alarm, then tap Sound and choose a Sound.

Manually adjusting the time on your iPhone in Settings to change app behaviour, like game timers, isn't recommended and can affect alarms.
