i have an early 2013 macbook pro and replaced the harddrive. i wass able to load catalina 10.15.7 but ant get imovie or finalcut pro which was purchased when i got the machine.

Since iMovie is part of Catalina it should have been installed when you installed the OS. Also iMovie can be download from the app store. If you sign in correctly the App store should show your purchase of FCP which you can download again.
When you replaced the drive I assume then you did not use your TM backup to migrate all back?
