Forgot Admin User Name

I was causally making SETTINGS changes and selected LOGIN fields NAME and PASSWORD. When I rebooted I realized I had forgotten my username (which is also the only ADMIN account). I know the password, but it wants me to type in my USER NAME first, which I forgot. Is there a workaround? I tried Recovery mode, but it still wants me to type the USER NAME.

If you forgot your user or account name on Mac - Apple Support addresses that possibility, but please pay attention to the following passage:

"... Because of this, the account name is permanent; you cannot change it without creating a completely new user."

The remaining instructions won't help because you would need to be logged in already.

Changing a user name can be accomplished but there are caveats, the first of which is emphasizes the need to create a Time Machine backup:

Change the name of your macOS user account and home folder - Apple Support

If you have one, now is the time to restore it. If it has been less than 24 hours since making those alterations the most expedient way is to restore a "local snapshot" which takes only a couple of minutes.

Still no help? Follow these instructions, start to finish, all the way from the beginning, including all the links, completely exhausting all options, inclusively, without exception, up to and including the ultimate need to erase the Mac:

There are many options that begin with "if" for the simple reason that various recovery methods apply to various Macs and various versions of macOS. You didn't indicate which macOS version is installed on your Mini but it doesn't matter... just follow those instructions.
