How can I fix static sound on iPad FaceTime calls and recording video?

So basically like I was going to call my cousin and then she was like I can’t hear you. All I hear is static. So then I recorded a video, and all I heard was static when I watched it. And btw my iPad is the newest generation 350$ and from the Apple Store and I’m not spending almost 400 dollars for an iPad that doesn’t even work
