Add a Method of Payment:

Yes. iCloud+ is a subscription. As a customer of Apple, Apple gives you upto 5GB of free storage off of their servers, depending on your location assigned to your Apple Account. I think what is occurring is that you are being informed that you need a default Method of Payment. And, if you do not want to youse a credit or debit card, then PayPay may be an option for you, depending on your location. Go here: Add a payment method to your Apple Account - Apple Support

Hope this Helps.

Beware! Are you absolutely sure these "requests" are coming from Apple? No one is required to pay for iCloud if they haven't signed up for it. But scammers send out texts and emails to everyone, Apple customers or not, saying that they have to pay, and they count on some people believing it.

These things can look quite authentic, even using very Apple-like email addresses. But Apple doesn't do this!

If you are in doubt, and if you have an Apple account, then go directly to Apple (don't click to the links in emails or texts!) and check with them. There are contact links at the bottom of this page. And you know that to get to this page you had to come to a site at Apple.com.
