Disk replacement on macbook pro 13" late 2012

Hi there.

My macbook pro 13" from late 2012 had a harddrive problem. I bought a new one and tried to install it. However, it couldn't mount the partition.

Has anyone been through the same, and found a solution?

I would apreciate if someone could help me!

Best regards

You do need to initialize the bare drive by using Disk Utility to erase the whole physical drive as GUID partition and MacOS Extended (Journaled). Then you need to select the "Install macOS" option.

With the 13" model specifically, if the physical drive is not seen, or you still have drive related issues with the new drive, then perhaps the problem is with the SATA Hard Drive Flex Cable which for this specific model had an extremely high rate of failure.
