Is there any plan to implement text-based editing in Final Cut Pro?
I know about Lumberjack but it'd be incredible if Apple actually implemented it in the future. Does anyone know if there's a plan for this or even a chance it happens?

No one here knows I’m afraid. We’re only users like you. No Apple engineering on this site.
Fox, it's not about editing text, but editing video from a text transcription of the dialogue. You know, like all NLEs now do, except FCP.
How much do you need to be able to do? It's easy enough to implement a basic TextEdit editor for Final Cut which can handle things like tabs and all the text features available in the Text Inspector.
Also, if you simply prepare your text in TextEdit (rich text format), then copy and paste it into a Title that supports Paragraph Text and it will retain all formatting (except it will not copy over images.) You will, however, most likely need to select all the text and increase the text size for viewing in video. (It's a "relative" adjustment — points are added to whatever the original text point sizes are, not replaced.)
I wouldn't know that... I don't use any of the others.
