Google calendar and iCloud calendar are they the same?

I have an iCloud calendar account, but I also have a Google calendar account which I've only recently started using. They appear separately on my Mac as different account calendars. Both use my primary email as the contact (i.e. my Apple ID is my Gmail email address.

When my wife sent me an invitation, it was received at the iCloud calendar, which I guess is OK, except it doesn't then appear on the Google calendar, (where I have many other sub-calendars already).

Trying to figure out whether I should try to eliminate one calendar or the other so I'm sure where everything is going to land.

Please note I have been using Outlook calendar, but towards the end of the year will be dropping that in favor of one of these other calendars. Thanks for the help...

iCloud and Google Calendar are two separate services. The fact that you're using your Gmail address as your Apple Account login doesn't change that (I do).

On your Mac, you may be using the Calendar application. That app can show events from a variety of different accounts. Mine shows my personal (Google) calendar and my work calendar. I don't generally use my Apple Account for calendar functions.

Outlook may refer to the application or to the service.

Right, but i have my gmail address calendar (xxx1234@gmail) as one calendar, a calendar called "Calendar" in iCloud that receives invites to that same email address. And there's another calendar called "iCloud" that apparently sends invitations using the same email address.

I'm just trying to figure out which to use and why i have two calendars in iCloud that seem to respond to the same email address, which happens to be he same as my gmail account address (nd calendar).

Thoughts... ?

I don't use the calendar on iCloud.com. So I really can't speak to that.

If I go to the Calendar app on my computer, I can only send invitations from my Gmail calendar. I don't know why off the top of my head.

I have two "iCloud Calendars" but they have no events. I'm not the person to tell you, I guess as I only use my Google Calendar and my work calendar. I've never that I recall had an invitation go to the iCloud Calendars.
