DRM is shorthand for Digital Rights Management, a copy protection scheme that typically limits the ability to share, copy, or convert files that are afflicted with it. WMA is Windows Media Audio format which may include DRM depending on the source of the files. Early versions of Windows Media Player encouraged users to enable DRM when ripping CDs into WMP, but then made transferring the licence to keep being able to play those tracks rather complicated. iTunes for Windows is able to natively convert DRM-free audio files to a format that it can play on import, but iTunes/Music for Mac doesn't have that feature, which is why you need to find a third party tool for the task. If you're not sure whether or not DRM is present simply try to convert the files to MP3 or AAC and see what happens.

If they don't contain DRM, use a product such as VLC to convert them. If they do, you can't.

thanks for your reply. One question what is DRM? Not very savvy with details.
