Can I reinstall Mac OS X Lion using internet recovery on my old MacBook Air without losing data?

Hello all,

I have a MacBook Air 11" Late 2010 that is running High Sierra and is quite slow, so I want to reinstall OSX Lion with the Internet recovery, however every time I try to run the reinstaller in internet recovery it always gives me the same error, "An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running it again"

There is an EFI firmware that apple released for my MacBook that supposedly allows it to reinstall Lion, but every time I open the firmware installer for it, it says that its not compatible with my machine, ( MacBook Air 3,1 )

I am also a bit worried that my data might get erased/deleted as there is not a whole lot of information on internet recovery online, some people say it won't erase but others say that it might, so I would like to know a bit more about that as the data on the computer is important
