Extremely low volume during phone calls on iPhone 12 Max Pro

I have a 12 Max Pro and for some time now I cannot hear the other person talk if I am on a phone call unless I put the phone on speaker (which is highly inconvenient when in a grocery store.) I don’t particularly want everyone to hear my conversation and don’t have my earphones with me to use. I have researched this topic a good bit and it appears that this is affecting a ton of users and the concern stems from a particular IOS update 17 or so. I have taken every step possible on my end and at the end of my rope on what to do now. My phone is up to date with 18.6 version. This needs to be fixed for me and everyone else having the same issue. I need to hear others when talking to them.
