Can’t Remove Stickers from Emoji Keyboard -Why Is This a Thing?

Hey Apple team & fellow iPhone survivors,

Why on earth can’t we remove those sticker icons (ghosts, hearts, animated weirdos) from our emoji keyboard? I’ve turned off every sticker/Memoji option in settings, but they still hang around in my “recents” bar - like haunted squatters I never invited.

I want a clean emoji keyboard. No stickers. No ghosts. Just my **** smileys and hearts.

Every “fix” I’ve found is either outdated or just doesn’t work.

I’ve tried:

  • Turning off stickers/Memoji in settings
  • Resetting the keyboard dictionary
  • Emoji flooding (sending 100+ random emojis to push them out)
  • Full phone restart and iOS updates
  • Praying to the Apple gods

Nothing works. Is this an iOS “feature” now? Or a bug? Either way, it’s driving me up the wall.

Can we PLEASE get an option to remove stickers from the emoji bar?

Who actually asked for this?

iPhone 16 Plus, iOS 18

The default iOS keyboard organizes emoji categories in the following order: Recent, Smileys, Animals, Food, Activities, Travel, Objects, Symbols, and Flags. This order is fixed and cannot be changed.

The Recents tab in the iOS Keyboard is not editable by the user. It dynamically updates based on the emojis or Memojis you frequently use or have used recently. If you stop using a particular emoji, it will gradually move out of the Recentslist as new ones are used.

Additional Notes:

  • The list adapts automatically and reflects a combination of most frequently used and recently used emojis.
  • You cannot manually pin or remove emojis from the Recents tab.
  • If you'd like to reset it completely, you can go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary, but this will also erase predictive text and autocorrections you've taught the keyboard.

The "Recent" category dynamically updates based on the emojis you use most frequently, regardless of their original category. Additionally, the keyboard remembers the last emoji category you accessed. For instance, if you last selected an emoji from the "Food" category, the keyboard will reopen to that category the next time you use it.

Similarly, if you use emojis from the "Recent" category, the keyboard will default to that category the next time. This behavior adapts to your usage for convenience.

Hiiii

i found this thread, after visiting other tech pages ::: so it’s a problem :::

as you’re probably familiar , in photos you can create « stickers » (for lack of a better word) of the people in them. They then become cute emojis.

inevitability… they really have a limited shelf life…

& YET You CANNOT remove them !

they hang around the emoji keyboard in prominent positions

& the solution below only shows the official emoji not the silly ones you no longer need.

HELP !!!!!
