Are there any new AI voices available for macbook air (Sequoia 15.5)

I am visually impaired and depend on AI to read for me. Examples of excellent AI voices include Substack, NYT, and the Guardian. The voices available on my laptop are so annoying I can't concentrate on the content. Are there others available for download? thanks.

Apple doesn't allow you to download voices from the web. But you can choose voices that apple has on your Mac (these aren't very good though).

  1. Go to System Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content.
  2. Click “System Voice” > then choose a voice from the dropdown menu or click the information button logo to find additional voices.

(I would recommend using the enhanced voices because they sound more human and less robot).

Dictation:

Dragon Naturally Speaking:

One thing I use is Dragon Naturally Speaking. I take a screenshot, and then copy and paste it into a word processor. Then, I have it read. It is NOT AI not for buttons in GUIs, but it would be an alternative way to dictate text that you Copy & Paste. Find it Here: Dragon Anywhere on the App Store
