Transferring Photos library on iMac to Lightroom Classic for organization and editing

I want to transfer the pictures in my Photos library to Lightroom Classic so I can organize and edit them. I've looked at several videos and am getting conflicting information. Can someone please help? Thanks!

There are a couple of ways depending on exactly what to achieve:

Lightroom Can import a Photos Library. It's one of the plug-in extras under the file menu. See the LRC manual for more.

Use an app like Avalanche:

It's probably the most complete solution.

Also, you can simply export the originals from Photos to Folders in the Finder and then import these to LRC. That's the 'start over from scratch' method.
