Being connected to Wi-Fi ≠ Having fast internet, or strong network speed.

Your iPhone might show “connected to Wi-Fi,” but that doesn’t guarantee:

  • A strong signal (check bars ≠ check speed),
  • Low latency,
  • Or any internet at all!

If the router is overloaded, placed far away, or has poor backhaul (like a weak broadband uplink), screen mirroring performance will tank — even on 5GHz.

Try tools like Speedtest on both Mac and iPhone to verify actual throughput. Also check for:

  • High ping times (>30ms locally = bad for mirroring),
  • Packet loss,
  • Bufferbloat (especially under load).
