Unable to copy/move music from iPod Touch (9.3.5) to Mac in 2025

The iPOD is not seen as an external connected device.

Apple Music sees the iPod.

iPod does not allow copy or move of files. (WHAT???!! To my own MAC???)

Some of the music is from CDs from years ago (have been through many iPods), and some was purchased through iTunes. In past versions I was able to move my music around, but now I can not figure it out. Surfing for answers only produces older responses that no longer apply.
