Control Apple Music app through phone?

Is there anyway BESIDES AIRPLAY to control Apple Music from your phone if I’m trying to play it on my tv through the Apple Music app? This was one of Spotify’s most convenient features. I’m not trying to go back to my tv everytime I need to change the song. I should be able to select songs on my iPhone and have it play on whatever device I choose and NOT through airplay. This feels like a very basic feature to have???
