How do I remove gray background from iCloud files in macOS terminal?

The ls -G command in the macOS terminal started listing iCloud files with a gray background that makes them very difficult to read. I don't think any users requested this "improvement." I couldn't find any options to change this. Any suggestions? The ls command with the option to colorize the listing (ls -G, ls -lG, etc.) leaves iCloud files that haven't been downloaded with a gray background.

It doesn't add anything and makes reading difficult.
