Third party apps list file folders by day/month/year.

OS Sonoma 14.5/ iCloud Drive turned on. This just started recently. When I open or save a file in a third party app (Excel, Word, Affinity Designer), the window will list folders by day/month/year. I HATE THIS! I don't know where to look for my folders! I just want it to show a normal finder window sorted by name or date created. Changing finder does not seem to fix it. There seems to be no app controls to change the way files are listed.

Anybody else having this issue?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.5

The same controls used in Finder can be used in the Open and Save windows.

You can press Command-2 to switch to List View, and click on the Name header to sort by name.

Moreover, this setting should stick - the next time you save, the window should appear as you set it. This is what appears not to happen for you.

Try restarting in Safe Mode, and see if the settings stick while in Safe Mode; then restart normally and see if it is working.
