Final Cut Pro “original media does not exist for some clips“

I am trying to consolidate my library in Final Cut Pro. I get a message: “original media does not exist for some clips.“ I would relink the missing clips, but there are no red clips in my browser to relink. How do I find what clips are missing, as the message only gives the option to continue or cancel

Thanks for that. It sounds logical, as I had created proxy media and then deleted the generated media. From what I understand, that action will not deplete proxy or optimized media if the original media is not present. I can see a small amount of proxy media showing in the inspector window. But when I look in the Library package with "Show package contents", the “Transcoded media“ folders are empty. I have been able to locate the clips that are only proxies by checking the Clips in the browser, where the Transcode option is greyed out, indicating that proxy media has already been created. The missing clips have turned out to be freeze frames that were made during the editing process. Thanks for your help. most informative.

If I understand correctly, this could happen in a situation where you have created optimized media for a clip and then at some point in time the original media has been deleted. I am away from my mac so I can’t test, but this would not show red warnings in the Viewer, because optimized media would be used. You might have to check with the Info Inspector and see which media representations are available.
