i cant see any messages my friend is sending and he cant see mine. please help!

He didn’t block me and I didn’t block him. I tried to call and I don’t think he could answer. He’s been sending messages and I’ve been restarting my device. Idk what to do please help. "

If ScreenTime is in use, or you have parental controls set on your iPhone, you may need to check if restrictions apply. Eg: Your friend may need to be listed in your Contacts to be someone with whom you can be in contact.

If you are using Apple's "Messages" app to message each other without success

If you both have Apple devices:

• You both need an internet connection for Messages app to send iMessages back and forth over wi-fi

If one of you has an Android device,

• Then messages will send as texts using cellular data ...You may need to check your settings to allow Messages to use cellular data (Note: charges from your provider may or may not apply)

Eg: says:

"Go to Settings  > Cellular,

Then turn Cellular Data on or off for any app" (such as Messages) "or service (such as Wi-Fi Assist) that can use cellular data. If a setting is off, iPhone uses only Wi-Fi for that service."
