I have an iPhone 12 and I was viewing Tips and it showed how to create a variety of text effects, such as Italic, Big, Exploding, etc. This done by highlighting the text and pressing a Button that looks similar to A=. I asm running the latest iOS version on my phone but I do not have the A= button on Messages on my phone. Is this option only available on later versions of the iPhone, such as iPhone 16?

Mine shows up on a “14” running iOS 18.5 but only when:
An iMessage “blue” addressee is already populating the “to” field
AND
The cursor is in the text entry field
AND
Characters have been entered in the text field.
Thanks, I'll check that out. I did look at messages on a friend's iPhone 15 and sent a message to myself, and their interface is different to mine, so I'm guessing the "12" is not able to utilise some of the updates because of the hardware, rather than the software.
