How do I prevent access to personal photos in Family Sharing on iPhone?

Hello,

I gave my son an old iPhone of mine to use for gaming and internet access. I also have it setup (via help from a friend) where he can text only certain numbers. I believe this is family sharing. Forgive me, I am NOT tech savvy… At any rate, all of my photos are visible to him. How/is it possible to prevent him from seeing any of my personal photos/texts etc

Before giving the phone to your son you should have followed advice such as that in What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support, which would have ensured that you were fully signed out of all Apple and third party services before he started using it. He should be using his own Apple ID. Family Sharing is a feature that allows for the sharing of Apple media and services (see Family Sharing - Apple for more). It won't be the reason he can see your photos, that is because the phone is like still signed into your Apple ID for iCloud Photo Library. See Sign out of iCloud on your devices - Apple Support.
