MacBook Pro Screen Saver Turned To Yellow

Yesterday, I took a break from my work and came back to find the screen on my MacBook M4 Pro was yellow.

"That's weird!" I thought to myself. I didn’t change any settings for anything recently, I just walked away for about 20 minutes. I assumed the worse, but when I swiped the keypad my system woke up as usual.

Today, my wife’s laptop (different model with external display attached) exhibited the same behavior!

I’ve read a bunch of other community posts claiming it’s Night Shift settings, or a slow-motion video screen saver issue, or the default screen saver color issue, or an incomplete screensaver download issue, or a hardware issue related to iMacs, iOS version related, etc...

This issue seems oddly specific (yellow?). Does anybody REALLY know what is causing this?

try a different screen saver and compare your results...

If you customized your Color Profile try returning to default settings for the exact Display in question...

or make some change to compare your results

Thanks for the reply, but I don't want to waste time trying a bunch of random fixes. As I mentioned in my post, I haven't made any changes to settings like color profiles recently. Even if I had, this doesn't explain why the issue also occurred on my wife's laptop; her system is configured differently.

This is why I asked "Does anybody REALLY know what is causing this?"

Cheers,

Christopher

No one can know the reason without experimenting with trying to restore things to normal. Even then, you may never know. I've encountered other much more severe & catastrophic events which I've never been able to figure out the root cause.

I've only seen one other user post something about a yellow screen a few months ago, but I never heard anything from them about whether they got things back to normal, much less being told the cause.

Obviously you haven't seen anyone report a cause or you would not be here asking about it. Someone has to take the first step to troubleshoot the issue. Will it be you?
