Apple Pay is not working after updating to iOS 18

My phone ran the iOS 18 upgrade last night and now when I want to use Apple Pay to pay it gives the message “Updating Cards Apple Pay will be available when updates are complete “

how do I get this resolved in order for Apple Pay to work?
