Apple Music and CarPlay Playlist Issue

I have tried googling and searching Reddit for this, but cannot find anything related to my specific issue.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max. I do not subscribe to Apple Music but have 35 gigs of music on my phone that has been synced to it with iTunes.

When connected to any CarPlay device, when I engage Siri and say "Play playlist (playlist name) on Apple Music" or "Play playlist (playlist name) in my library" Siri says "Playing (playlist name) on Apple Music" but instead just plays the songs in my library in alphabetical order.

Siri will play a specific album or artist if I ask but not playlists when connected to CarPlay.

If I disconnect from CarPlay Siri will play the playlist I ask it to with no issues.

It’s only a problem when connected to CarPlay. What the heck is going on here?
