Cannot upgrade from macOS Sequoia 15.4 to 15.5

When trying to upgrade from Sequoia 15.4 to 15.5 I get this immediately after entering my password:

The installer is already in the Applications folder, I have logged out of my Apple account and FindMy is not enabled. Every time I try to upgrade the "Try again" clock increases. The system has been rebooted several times and no other application is running. I'm using a 2021 M1 iMac 24" with approximately 390GB of free space.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gus

"installer is already in the Applications folder" this would be a full installer then. It does not specify which full installer beyond "Install macOS Sequoia.app"...the macOS 15.5 is some ~15.28 GB; is that what you intended from the Terminal.app? If not delete it and empty the trash.

Otherwise a point update ie 15.4 to 15.5 is through >System Settings>General>Software update

I would be logged into your Apple Account; I can think of no reason to be signed out here; and it may well need to verify your computer and associated account.

If you still have an issue try from a Safeboot and running your installer again.

Thank you for your response.

I started the process from >System Settings>General>Software update but kept getting the message in my screenshot (in a slightly different format, but the same message none the less).  Since I was getting nowhere from the GUI, I decided to download the installer manually via terminal with “softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 15.5”.

I was also logged into my Apple account when I started the process.  Since I was getting nowhere, I decided to ask the All Mighty Google and, although I did not find anything specific, suggestions from other people having issues upgrading to Sequioa were things such as “Turn off FindMy”, “log out of your Apple account”, etc.  Things that seemed to help these other users complete their upgrade.  So, I decided to try them.

I have not tried installing from Safe Mode, thanks for that suggestion.

At this point I’m also suspecting a corrupt security token.  I have seen some weird things happen when the security token gets corrupted.  I might try that angle before trying Safe Mode.

Again, thanks for your response,

            Gus
