Apple Pay Scam 2025

I just received a text from an overseas number that informed me that a purchase of $215.45 was made from my Apple Pay at Electronic Hub USA. I’m old school and have never used my Apple Pay option (I don’t have any cards linked to Apple Pay either). Just wanted to let everyone know that it seems the scammers are trying this route again. Here is a photo of the text:

This isn’t how Apple Pay works, isn’t how fraud detection and prevention works, and isn’t a particularly new scam.

Unfortunately.

Millions of copies of this get spammed.

Options for filtering it include add-on apps including Bouncer app which can mute by phone numbers and number patterns, or by muting specified message contents. Another option uses a built-in iOS feature that can mute unknown senders.
