How to recover missing photos in Notes showing as grey boxes after iOS 18.4.1 update?

I'm experiencing an issue with the Notes app on my iPhone running iOS 18.4.1 (before this update everything was working fine) I have several notes that contain attached photos. While some of these photos are still visible, others now appear as a grey box/ broken image placeholder. I have already tried restarting my iPhone.

It's clear that the app knows a photo should be there, but it can't display it. Is there a known fix or a way to recover these images? I had imported these photos into the Notes app, so I deleted them from the Photos app. It’s very important for me to view those photos again, as I’ve had them for years.
