Outdated Big Sur to?

I need to update my outdated version of Big Sur on my MBP 2019. What is the best ios to upgrade to? Should I go directly to Sequoia or update to a later version first?

I am concerned that some of my older apps won't be compatible and the computer will be slow and sluggish.

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

iOS is for iPhones. Macs run macOS.

Your 2019 MBP can be updated to the current macOS 15 Sequoia, and will be compatible with the upcoming macOS 26 Tahoe.

It's always best to have the most current macOS version your computer supports to insure you are protected and have up to date security releases.

It should not cause any sluggishness, nor should there be any incompatibility with your Apps.
