How to handle unresponsive buttons in memory videos of Photos app?

Buttons in top left of an automated memory video within Apple Photos are unresponsive. Both to mute video sound and the ellipsis for options. Became usable after a ~minute without interaction: attempted to share video memory, received 'Preparing Video..." error message, and now buttons are unresponsive again.

Restart your iPhone or the photos app, if still not work, maybe check your iCloud account and check for iOS updates.

It seems to me to be hit or miss-- I'm not sure we can do anything about it. Several people have reported it, but I'm not sure how wide spread the issue is. I could hit mute in another Memory, and it worked and was still muted when I went back to the first. But then it no longer worked. Weird.

For me, a forced restart didn't help, either-- but at least it was stuck in mute! You can try it:

This is different from a simple Power Off. I had to continue holding the button down past the "slide to power off" message, and then I released the button only after the Apple Logo appeared indicating a re-start.

You should let Apple know that you, too, are experiencing this:
