iPod touch older compatible app issues

I replaced my iPod touch 6 with a refurbished iPod 6 with same OS (12.5.7). When I downloaded Sirius XM app on my replacement iPod, it informed me that I needed to download an older, compatible version of their app, which it did. When I opened the app, it goes to a blank white screen. I also tried accessing the app on the web and also got a blank white screen. After resetting "all settings" I did get past the white screen to the SXM login, but then it did not work. Future resets and redownloading app goes to white screen on the SXM app. I am wondering why the SXM app says I can download an older version but then does not work? Is there something I can do in settings to get it to work. The app on my original iPod works fine.
