iCloud incorrectly syncing outdated Apple Notes from an idle device
July 24, 2025: I have an ipad, macbook and iphone that I use with my apple notes synced through iCloud. I haven't used the ipad in 2 months though. In that 2 months I used my macbook to reduce my notes from over 1000 to about 850. I recently opened the ipad and it still had the apple notes with over 1000 notes. It took so long for that amount of notes to begin syncing on the ipad that it started to re-add notes to my phone and macbook. This is not desirable behavior. Now my apple notes on my iphone and macbook have an old version of my notes. When I check the apple noted through icloud it is correct, the most up to date set of notes. So I changed my phone, ipad, and macbook apple notes setting to NOT SYNC. All my notes disappeared from devices. I then turned sync back on a few minutes later and the same incorrect set of notes was re-added. So the notes that are being downloaded are not what I'm looking at on the icloud website. Currently, I've un-synced them again, waited 20 minutes and have restarted the sync which currently at 319/850 at a rate of one note/second. I just want to see what is on my icloud through web on my devices and it's not working. Anyone no a solution?
