Final cut pro unuseable IMAC M3

Good day! I edit my churchs Facebook video once the live feed is done to upload to our website and ive always used FCPX. My old imac intel I5 worked great as long as i was using 10.5 without the pro codecs. I found a great deal on a new Imac M3 8 cpu, 10 gpu, 24gb ram and when i tried editing the video, i could not usr fcpx. I imported the video and the (audio waveform not showing) when i created new project it would not transcode/create audio so I stopped that and tried to drag into timeline to start editing but just got the colored rainbow. After restarting with option command held down, same result . I then used DaVinci resolve which worked without any problems. I like the layout of Fcpx and would like to use if possible

Delete the Preferences (aka Settings).

Hold down Option and Command as you launch FCP until a window appears.

Then click "Delete".

To clarify, where is the audio missing? In the browser or the timeline?

If the latter, you may have just accidentally pressed Shift-2, which results in only adding video, and not audio, when dragging from the browser to the timeline. In that case, pressing Shift-1 (or selecting Edit->Source Media->All) makes subsequent additions use video and audio.

If the clip does not show audio already when in the browser, then it is a different matter, and that Etrecheck report might help.
