Transferring iTunes library to Wife's Computer
I read so many articles on this subject I’m not sure which one to follow. Basically I
want our ripped CD’s to be available on my wife’s computer in her iTunes library.
1) I have an Apple Id and an iTunes library about 40GB in size (One Apple ID)
2) I run a Windows 11 computer
3) I’ve enabled Family sharing and we already share iCloud storage.
1) My wife has her own Apple ID and iTunes library on her computer syncing to her iPhone
(One ID)
2) My wife’s iTunes library has two downloaded albums, that is it.
3) My wife runs a Windows 11 computer
My plan is to copy my entire iTunes library onto a USB thumbdrive and then copy the contents
on to her computer. I realize this will over write her two downloaded albums. (I’ve used this copy process before to transfer my library to a new machine)
My wife would then open her iTunes app / library on her machine and would sign in with her Apple ID. I’m assuming it won’t try my ID !! I realized she likely won’t be able to listen to my purchased music and my playlist will likely be present. Assuming she signs in with her apple ID she should be able to download her two albums.
I’m using this approach as her library is very small and I don’t want her to have to import hundreds of songs.
1) Will this process work?
2) Will it cause issues to her Apple Id or iPhone when she syncs?
3) Is there a better way? Remember I want her to be able to listen music even when she is not on our network and I don’t want a situation where my computer has to be on.
Thank you
