My iPod touch 2nd generation will not charge

When I try to charge it it will not take a charge and remains completely dead

Some things to check:

    1. is the charger source working? Can you try a different power supply? The USB port on your computer should do it
    2. is the cable okay? If the cable looks damaged, especially where the cable enters the plug, that may be the cause. Can you try another cable?
    3. is there dust or debris in the iPod's charge post? If so, very carefully remove it. Try blowing the dust out. Whatever you do, be very careful that you do not damage the metal connections in the port


If it's none of those things, it might be that there is a fault inside the iPod, most likely that the battery has failed.
