hello the title says it but I have already tried to reinstall macOS or to smc / nvram reset but the trackpad does make the click noise and they work on apple diagnostic and the boot menu
Earlier Mac models
the other common problem that causes trackpad anomalies is an expanding battery.
Check for signs that the Botton plate is pushing down toward the table, or that any seams are opening up under pressure from within.
Mine got so bad it developed a shiny spot in the middle of the bottom because it pushed down so far it touched the table.
Usually when both the Keyboard & Trackpad fail at the same time on a 2015 model it is due to the Trackpad IPD Flex Cable.
BTW sometimes it works am right now in macOS 12 and it works weird
The Trackpad Cable failure can be intermittent.
